Aktiv Demokrati is a Swedish political party that wants to enable direct democracy mixed with representative democracy based on demand by each individual through safe digital solutions like the Internet, telephones or automated teller machines.
The party participated in the 2006 general election with no significant funding and got 81 votes. The party participated also in the 2010 general election and got 76 votes.
The party organization is cross-political. The party is issue-based and created directly by the members of the party. Every party member can participate democratically in the discussions leading up to a vote and naturally also vote.
There is a board, due to legal demands, but the board of the party has minimal power, and effectively only maintains the technical status of the electronic voting system.
An Internet based voting system, coded in PHP, GPL, exists and can be downloaded from the forum and set up by a trained programmer. All decisions today are taken by the members with open voting in a phpBB-forum. Using Alias for anonymity is allowed on the party forum.
Some engineers associated with the party are planning a project to develop a Dedicated trusted computer voting device that can be used to increase Internet safety significantly.
